Giveway
To Who?
I am getting a lot of people getting in touch regarding
the confusing Giveway Signs that Thurrock Highways
have unnecessarily put in place at several Mini
roundabouts in Thurrock,
In
the picture above you will note that there is no
road on the left at this junction! and the road
on the right is One-way traffic.
Click The Mini sign above and see the confusing
double giveway lines!! and the giveway signs that
are wasting our money and causing unnecessary problems
for Motorist in Thurrock and all over the Country!!

Thurrock
Council MUST Stick To The Highway Code Rules.
Although the Highway Code does say that double warning
lines could be used at some mini roundabouts, I
think somebody at Thurrock Council Highways have
lost their way and forgotten the Highway Code Rules
that are quite clear for ALL road users approaching
a mini roundabout! |

Mini-roundabouts. Approach these in the same way
as normal roundabouts. All vehicles MUST
pass round the central markings except large vehicles
which are physically incapable of doing so.
Remember,
there is less space to manoeuvre and less time to
signal.
Avoid
making U-turns at mini-roundabouts.
Beware
of others doing this.

The Official Rules
Are Legal Requirements
Highway Code (Crown Copyright)
Many of the rules in the Code are legal requirements,
and if you disobey these rules you are committing a criminal
offence. You may be fined, given penalty points on your
licence or be disqualified from driving. In the most serious
cases you may be sent to prison.
Such rules are identified by the use of the words ‘MUST/MUST
NOT’. In addition, the rule includes
an abbreviated reference to the legislation which creates
the offence.
Why
don't you read the rest of the (Highway
Code) Introduction legal requirements and the rules?
DSA
Driving Manual.
The
manual that we are advised to teach with is also clear
regarding who to giveway to when approaching a mini roundabout.
Quote:
When approaching a mini roundabout, giveway to traffic
on your right, and also giveway to traffic that maybe
turning right in front of you.
Why
Is So Much Money Wasted And So Many Incorrect Road Signs?
All
over the Country drivers can not fail to see incorrect
or non existent road signs, and road users are at a higher
risk in getting involved in road rage or being involved
in an accidents at these locations.
Would somebody at Thurrock Council Highways Department
like to comment why they have introduced these costly
unnecessary giveway signs at mini roundabouts in Thurrock?
Thurrock's
Road Safety
Shortfalls
A
Recent 2008 Survey
Thurrock roads have been
condemned
As among the most dangerous
in the country.
(The Confusing Signs Above Don't help)

We
Must All Participate To Improve
Road Safety In Thurrock.
New
Road Sign's And New Cycle Path's Are A Great Improvement.
It has been noted that Thurrock Council's Road
safety Committee and the Highway's Department have been
very busy over the last couple of year's installing new
road sign's and the much needed cycle Path's, however,
Thurrock Council must all not get complacent as there
is still along way to go due to our Thurrock roads being
condemned in this year 2008 as the most dangerous in the
country.
The Recent Survey.
The recent 2007 / 2008 accident survey figures for Thurrock
are very disappointing and embarrassing to all concerned,
and Thurrock Council must pull out all of the stops to
reveres these appalling road safety figures
With
The Winter Dark Nights Ahead The Risk Is Higher!
The survey reports that Thurrock road users are more likely
to be seriously or fatally injured in road traffic accident's
than anywhere else in the east of England.

the recent (accident
road survey) facts in the Thurrock Gazette
Professional
Driving Instructor's Want To Play A Part In Road Safety.
As Professional driving instructors working all over Thurrock
we have noticed some incorrect or misleading road sign's
and road marking's that will eventually lead to a RTA
(road traffic accident)
Thurrock's
Incorrect Road Sign's & Marking's Must Be Amended.
We find it is our Professional duty to bring these misinforming
road sign's and road marking's to Thurrock Council's attention
to get them amended.
To
Follow Are A Few Example's.
Danehole's Roundabout
Dangerous Road Markings
Danehole's
Roundabout's Misaligned & Confusing Road Marking's
The newly painted hatched road marking's on the
Danehole's round about are confusing have resulted in
many a near rear end shunt.

The
Roundabout Kerb's Need To Be Repositioned.
The
kerb's at Danehole's roundabout need to be repositioned
or permanent traffic cone's need to be in place to give
a better roundabout road layout.
Hesitation Is One Of The Main Causes Of Accident
Rear End Shunt's.
At present when a driver is waiting at the roundabout
giveaway line, the new white hatch road marking's incorrectly
positioned are keeping traffic coming from the right in
a position to far to the left, this is giving a driver
waiting at the giveaway line an anticipated impression
that the vehicle coming from the right is about to turning
left, resulting in hesitation
An
Ideal Solution Would Be To Reposition The Near Side Kerb's
Our Local New's Paper.
The local Thurrock Gazette has a lot of angry residents
letter's on this subject.
Getting The Hump
Thurrock
Driver's Are Getting The Hump.
The
many road hazards and badly maintained roads in Thurrock
is properly the reason a lot of people buying and driving
4 x 4 off road vehicles?
Will Your Vehicle Fail Its MOT?.
Humps and bumps and man made hazards that have sprung
up on many of our roads and streets that are going to
cause sever damage to your vehicle, and your vehicles
next MOT may be very expensive!
Education
is the key to Improving Road Safety.
More money should be spent on advertising the
rules of the Highway Code, and changing bad drivers attitudes,
surely this must be the way forward.
How
Much Did It Cost?
How much money has Thurrock Council wasted on the traffic
calming and width restriction measures that have been
introduced by our local Council across Thurrock?
The
Air Gets Thin Up Here!
The
Air Pressure Gets Thin Due To The High Speed Cushion's.
I'm only joking, however the speed tables in
Argent street Grays and Rectory road( North ) are no laughing
matter, I am under the impression that the speed cushions
and sped table's should be no higher than four inches,
and they should have a graduating slope!

Unseen
Damage To Vehicles May Go Un-Noticed.
Vehicle Suspensions are getting damaged unnecessarily
as
a result of some high speed tables / cushion's in Thurrock,
and the unseen damage may not be evident until your vehicle
require's the three year old vehicle MOT Test.

New's (Chicane's Are Not Working)
It was reported on Sky News's that the road narrowing
chicanes that have been introduced in some Towns all over
the Country to save lives are not working.

Services Are Condemning The Chicane's.
A spokes person for the Emergency services are outraged,
and told sky news that the road narrowing chicanes are
costing live's all over the Country due to the Fire and
Ambulance services not being able to get to the emergency
incident quickly enough.
Does
The Railway Bridge Need Attention?
Thurrock's Bridge Road Dreaded Chicane, what
purpose is the dreaded chicane serving?
Is Thurrock Council taking the easy way out with the chicane,
instead of reinforcing or repairing the old railway bridge
structure
Thurrock's
Three High Rise Block Residents Are At Risk!
The photo above was taken in April 2006 and is showing
the road narrowing chicane in Grays Thurrock.
The road narrowing is in place just before three blocks
of high rise blocks of flats, making access from this
direction impossible for Ambulance and Fire crews.
Thurrock's
Congested One-Way System.
The only route that the emergency crews can take to get
to the flats is by trying to negotiate the very busy congested
Grays One-Way system that will only add to the problem.
The Missing Sign
Gray's
Thurrock's One-way System's Missing Road Sign!
When any traffic flow in a One-way system is
about to revert into two-Way traffic, all road user's
MUST be warned by the appropriate Road
Sign (See Below)
The
Missing Road Sign
The
picture show's Orsett Road, a One-Way system,at the
traffic light's junction, the road ahead and going off
to the right are both two-way traffic, however there
are no Warning sign's warning driver's that they are
about to enter a two-way traffic traffic flow!

The
Two-Way Traffic Sign In The Picture Is Also Incorrect.
The two-way traffic sign that is seen in the picture
is also incorrect, it implies' that two-way traffic
crosses Stanley Road, this is incorrect, as the next
cross road ahead has a no right turn sign in place due
to the road on the right being a One-Way
street.
The
traffic sign seen in the picture needs to be removed
as it is misinforming all road user's.

Get Very Little Consideration From Thurrock Council's!
Both

is outside the Gate's of Gray's Park, and the other
footpath obstruction is outside the old Thurrock Park

Disabled
Scooter's Are Forced To Drive On The Road.
It has been noted that a lot of disabled and
Pedestrian friendly dropped kerb's have been put down
at a lot of junction's in thurrock to allow easy asses
from one footpath to another, however the obstruction
in Bridge road Gray's has been outstanding for many
years!
Has Thurrock Council Planners taken these two
disabled un-friendly obstruction to be the norm?
