If you go to the “Inn on the Green” Stanford le hope or go stand outside St Margaret’s Church and watch and wait for a bus to come along and see the chaos it causes! The bus stop is causing bedlum and will before long cause an accident it stop vehicles when a bus is there being able to come out of the green(high street)and turn right as the bus blocks this side of the road would it not have made sense to leave it were it was were at least vehicles were able to get round it before instead of moving it a short distance to sit in a small piece of road that is not even as long as a bus. If it had to be moved would it not have made sense to move it round corner into Corringham Road?
This is really a bloomer made by the planners counsellors or who ever decided to move the bus stop!!

Reply: Hi Maureen
Thank you for visiting the site, I will try to get to Stanford to take some pictures regarding the Bus stops badly planned Location.
You are correct with your concerns.
The Highway Codes Rules: Do not stop no nearer than 10.5 Mtr’s or (35 feet) to a junction, it also goes on to say do not stop or park your vehicle near a BEND, BROW OF A HILL, Etc ..
I have witnessed Hundreds of Bus stops and Pedestrian Crossing in Thurrock that are located in badly planned locations and this short sighted stance by Thurrock Councils planners may be another accident waiting to happen.
Please pass the word around regarding the site.
I have also returned a personal email to you.

(blue wheely bins) Getting fed up with using the small blue box. Its got to the point now where we hardly even use the green wheely bin as most of our rubbish is recyclable. i'm trying to cram 3-4 bin liners into the blue box and the old green wheely bin usually gets 1 bag a week put into it... Its like we now need a green BOX and a blue WHEELY BIN. I have asked thurrock council about a blue wheely bin but apparently their only used in certain areas for trials..
So, whats going on..?? You want us to recycle, GIVE US THE BINS TO DO IT..!!
Reply: Hello James
Welcome to the site, and thank you for your contribution, I agree with you, I have noted that Thurrock Park Estate behind the Bull Public house in Little Thurrock have had BLUE Wheely Bins for over a year.
I will try to find out why!

Hi Tom,
Great to find this website.
More than happy to work with you and other Thurrock residents to achieve the aim of having a safer, cleaner, greener Thurrock and, NO road humps!!
I have just taken over the resposnibility for transport and highways so, there could be a time of extra road humps being put in shortly but, I will stop them as soon as practicable.
There must be another solution!!!
More than happy to receive ideas. My info is available on the thurrock council website. www.thurrock.gov.uk

Thurrock Council must mend there ways and empty the Handy tills on a more regular basis.
This problem is regarding Thurrock Council Tax Reminders
Whats the point of paying your council tax on time when the thurrock council does not empty the handy till until two or four days later, then to top it all they send me a red reminder letter to say my payment is late, who else has this problem?
Becky.
Reply: Hello Becky.
Thank you for your visit to the site, and also your comments and concerns regarding the Thurrock Councils procedure regarding payment to the Council using the handy tills.
Will Thurrock Council never learn to get their acts together, a few years ago when Councillor Smith was one of the Councillors for Tilbury the wife and I had the very same problem as you are experiencing now!
We had a meeting with Councillor Smith regarding the handy till problem, and he informed us that this outstanding problem would be resolved and residents would never receive an unnecessary red letter again!!
NOTE. That meeting with Councillor Smith (Labour) was a few years ago, did he really put himself out to solve our problem, Maybe Mr (Councillor) Smith would like to respond to this reply.
Please spread the word about the site.
Thurrock Residents can make a difference regarding how Thurrock prospers for the future.

Thurrock Council is again installing roadhumps on some of the few remaining roads in the borough. Many respected associations have discovered that these humps are ineffective, cause higher fuel consumption, much higher pollution levels, slow down emergency response vehicles, increase vehicle noise and vibration, over time they can damage vehicles no matter how carefully you drive and can lead to spinal injuries for vehicle passengers. They also cost a fortune to install. Many councils will no longer install humps, a few are even removing the existing ones. BUT NOT OUR COUNCIL. They carry on regardless! And I always thought that the council was supposed to represent US. Apparently not!
Reply: Hi Simon.
Thank you for your visit to the site, your comments are fully justified and I agree with everything that you have said.
You are right; many Councils are taking out the speed humps due to the reasons that have been highlighted, however Thurrock Council will just keep adding to everybody’s misery by continuing to add more humps at our expense.
And Councillors and Governments wonder why there are low turn outs on Voting days!
I cannot wait to see how much (Unjustified) expenses Thurrock Councillors have been paid this year!

I was dismayed to see that no new road would be put in from the Sorrels roundabout or thereabouts, following roughly parallel with Rainbow Lane in Stanford, leading to the new Superport, as shown on the original plans exhibited at the Shell Club several years ago. This would have taken traffic away from the housing, then down across the fields and marshes. Now we find that they are just going to resurface the Manorway and put up sound barriers in front of the housing in Corringham Road, I suppose. This will interfere with far more residents than in the original plan, look exceedingly unnattractive and noise and lead levels will be sky high for many more people than in the original plan. Why has it been changed? I welcomed port originally, from the employment point of view, but this "amended" plan for no new road has changed my opinion entirely. Yet another scheme put forward with a sop to the residents, only to be changed when planning permission was granted. Profits first, people second, yet again!
Reply: Hi G.Brown
Thank you for your visit and contributions to the site, I live in Tilbury, however the wife and I visit Corringham several times a week as my wife’s sister is living in sheltered accommodation in Corringham.
I have not seen the plans for the new road layout regarding the plans for the new port, and if Canvey gets the suggested new road across to Kent the New A13 will be a nightmare, most accidents happen along this road between Stifford Clays interchange and the Stanford Interchange.
I also welcome the New Port, however, I anticipate a lot of the new jobs for the port will really be personnel being reallocated from Tilbury!
Thanks again, please pass the word around and get some more Stanford and Corringham locals on board.
Regards
Tom

"Labour & Conservative Parties Were both partly responsible for the loss of Public Toilets in Thurrock over the last few years!"
Hi - I agree with your campaign. However the above statement is incorrect. All the public loos had gone before the tories took over. If I recall they all closed in 1999? and got replaced by automatic loos. The council then decided in 2001 or 2002 to end the contract on all of these so they had all gone a couple of years before 2004. 2004 was when the tories took over.
Even campaigning Mr Gambier justified the closures, and is on public record, stating it was costing residents £80 every time they spent a penny.
A correct statement would be Labour shut them all down six years ago and the Tories refuse to reinstate them!
Although I have to laugh seeing Labour politicians campaigning to reinstate something they closed down in the first place and said was too expensive for taxpayers. (Is there an election coming I wonder?)
Yours cynical of all politicians

Reply: Hiya Thanks for your comments regarding the lack of toilets in Thurrock, and who was responsible.

Says it all, Labour and Conservatives are responsible for the lack of Toilets in Thurrock.
Do you remember the toilets next to the old fire station in Orsette road Grays? Or the toilets that were located under ground in the broadway Tilbury?
I agree with with you that Councillors do seem to make a meal of anything near election times.
Regards
Tom
PS.
Do you think the 7.5 restriction should be removed from Devonshire road?

Hi, regarding the heavy commercial traffic on London Rd, Grays and the (currently) illegal weight restriction on Devonshire Road. Just thought you should know that we have received a leaflet today from Oliver Gerrish (Labour candidate for West Thurrock and South Stifford) who has started a petition for the removal of the weight limit signs that force the lorries down London Road and the completion of the southern relief road opposing the Tories plan to reinstate the weight limit and send yet more trucks rumbling down our road!
Reply: Hi Paul
As an ex HGV driver and a past resident of Foxton road sth stifford, I fully support the removal of the weight restriction on Devonshire road.
I is total commonsense that HGV's are directed away from London Road
Regards
Tom.
Ps, thank you for your imput to the site

For a few months now i have been increasingly getting more and more annoyed at the road layout near the A13 junction along the road running along north stifford. The width restrictions withing this road seem to be at different witch for goin left and right. goin towards the A13 is alot smaller than than going away from it.
Im sure many other drivers will agree with this. Many times have i seen wheel trims left along the side of the road where the wheels have been scrapped against the barriors because they just are not big enough for a car to get through.
Reciently i even saw a car damage its axle on this part of the road where the wheels of the car started to bend outward resulting in the car being a writeoff. Who is to pay for the damage? us or thurrock council who erected this monstrocity in the demands of the North Stifford community? Do they not take the general publics view in to concern when deciding new road layout planning procedures.. to me it looks as if they dont!
Something needs to be done otherwise the council will have very angry drivers on their case.
Reply: Hi Vicky
Your concerns are correct and are constantly being voiced in the Thurrock Gazette's letters page by angry Thurrock resident's
Who of importance live's in North Stifford that would justify the Thurrock Council Tax purse strings be opened for this unjustified and unwanted sick road alteration.
Thank you for your visit, please pass the word around to promote this site.
The site needs more Thurrock Residents views to make Thurrock Council mend its ways.

I live in Thurrock, and as a driver I aree with your comments regarding the so called speed humps, they should all be removed.
Asda roundabout, there have been loads of accidents on this roundabout, and the misleading information on the road sign comming from Tilbury to Asda could be the result of some of the accidents.
Regards
Lee.
Keep the presure up, the sign must be amended.
