Thank God for this site. Update on the Thurrock Library situation; having reduced library hours and reduced staff hours as well, the council is now going ahead with plans to shut down some libraries (possibly all except Grays), which will render all the employees jobless due to the planned government's cuts. The big question now is, where do all these unemployed people go? Are they not all going to have to join the benefit system on the long run?

There is also the issue of how these plans will affect children and students who depend on the library for a lot of their resources.

Can anyone call these people to order!!!!!!!!

Reply: Hi Nike

Thank you for your visit to this site, your important information update regarding some of Thurrock’s Libraries closing, I am 100% in agreement with you.

Children, Students and the elderly will suffer if the proposals go ahead.

Kindest regards

Tom

Just to make you aware thurrock council is to consider closing down either Manor Infants and Nursery School or Manor Junior School and and stick both schools on one site. It goes to the council's cabinet this Wednesday for a 'consultation' and a decision is to be made in September if one of the schools is going to face the axe or not. Somehow I doubt we will see our local councillors campaigning against this as they did regarding Chadwell St Mary Primary school as they are now running the council :(

Reply: Hi Alison

Welcome to the site and thank you for the interesting information regarding Tilbury Schools ear marked for cut backs that will disrupt a lot of Tilbury pupils and residents, it may also result in unwanted job losses.
Please update me and the site visitors on the outcome wed.

Kindest regards

Tom

Please find enlosed photo's of the rear alleyway of Clarence road and Bedford road Grays, could you please bring this problem to your site and bring to councilors attention for us please.

Keep up the good work, why dont you invite the Thurrock Gazette to sort out the asda roundabout problem as this really is a serious outstanding road safety issue.

The outcome will result in who we vote for at the next ellections.

Thank you

Hello Tom

What an interesting and informative site, I must agree that you are correct regarding Thurrock’s road safety shortfalls and parts of Thurrock looking like a pigs sty, the filth on the A13 and the Dock road approach road is disgusting and gives Thurrock a bad image.

What councillors are doing there bit for Thurrock? when voting time arrives we will all be overloaded with leaflets and flyers telling us what they intend to do to win their place back on the council.
And if the outstanding Asda roundabout road safety problem is anything to go by I cannot see myself voting for any of the main parties.

Could you not check with the house of parliament ombudsman direct yourself to see why this problem is taking so long to clear up

Regards

Michael

Reply: Hi Michael

Thank you for your visit and contributions to the site, and thank you also for your email.

I think you have said it in a nut shell, as for the Asda roundabout and the house of parliament ombudsman regarding making a direct approach, I'm not sure if this would be the right way to go about this outstanding problem now it is in the hands of the RT Hon MP Andrew McKinley and councillor Morris.

I will wait a little longer for making my next step, I am also thinking of flooding Thurrock with some flyers just before the election.

Kindest regards

Tom

PS

Please pass the word around regarding this site, people power can make a difference.

This site is excellent, should have found it sooner.

I think its about time MP Mckinley got a reply from Parliments ombudsman, my husband and I think this outstanding road safety problem should have been sorted out a long time ago, do councillors have any clout over Thurrock Councill highway officers?

I work in a Busy Thurrock office and will pass the word around regaring this site.

Well Done.

Keep the pressure on, the elections will soon be upon us.

Rebecca

Reply: Hi Rebecca.

Welcome to the site, and thank you for your comments and positive thoughts about the long outstanding Asda roundabout incorrect road sign, and why it is taking so long to rectify

I have recently emailed the RT Hon MP for Thurrock Mr Andrew McKinlay and asked for an update regarding the same.

I will update this site as soon as I get a reply from the Labour Councillor Mr Carl Morris or Mr Andrew McKinlay, Thurrock’s MP

I appreciate and thank you for spreading the word about this site.

Regards

Tom

i live in tilbury and yes i do drive i couldnt help but notice that the learner cars are using the wrong lane to go to grays so evey time i go to go up the A13 the learners are next to me i have noticed that the ROAD SIGN IS ACTULLAY WRONG

Reply: Hi Sam

Welcome to the site, and thank you for taking the time to put pen to paper.

Of course you are quite right, the road sign on approach to the Asda roundabout when leaving Tilbury is incorrect, I have approached the councillor and our Thurrock Mp for an update regarding the same.

The Rt Hon MP for Thurrock Mr Andrew McKinley says the problem has been put to the House of Commons Ombudsman, it has been a while now and I think its time we had a response, I also want to know what progress has been made regarding Tilbury Towns railway station ongoing problem regarding no access to the London side for Disabled Persons.

Can you please put the word around to all your friends regarding this site, all problems can go on this site, Thurrock elections in May.

Thank You

Tom

PS, Elections Soon!!

Hi Tom,
Thanks for putting out the amendment to my previous email - however, don't knock the Councillors on the green belt issue. Not one of our Councillors in Aveley want to see our precious green belt land used for development. Sadly the matter has been taken out of their hands by the TTGDC who have ridden rough shod over the residents and the Councillors and granted Barretts permission to build 340 homes on the green belt land at Aveley By Pass. Get rid of the TTGDC is what I say - who else agrees?

Reply: Hi Judith.

I am fully aware how vigorous we must all be regarding the importance of protecting our precious green belt land, however I am not to sure if we could count on all of our Thurrock’s councillors when it comes to the crunch regarding the same!

Just recently a property developer, I think it was Red Row wanted to build houses on land in Tilbury to the immediate east of the A1089 (alongside the dock road approach near the Asda roundabout, this TTGDC project was knocked back, we were then given the option of a lorry park, same area!!

It saddens me that Thurrock Council and its Councillors do not appear to have any powers over the TTGDC and its only a matter of time before we see development (bull dozed through) all over Thurrock, when this recession ends, some of Tilbury’s Ferry fields have all ready been taken over by industry and warehousing.

Will the Shell Haven’s new container site spill over onto green belt areas?

I know that the RT Hon MP for Thurrock Mr Andrew McKinley will fight tooth and nail with vigour on our behalf regarding the TTGDC pirates that are stealing our land without our permission.

Tom

Hello again,
Having re-read my email sent yesterday, I realise it should read "Please ask Mr. Mackinlay why there is VAT imposed on brown land and yet none on green belt land -thus encouraging developers to build on our precious green belt land." Sorry about the mistake - proves that I am human -phew!!

Reply: Hello Judith.

No problem, I am also careless with my spelling due to rushing around, well that’s my excuse anyway.

I will pass your message on to Mr McKinley office, if you have any pictures that you would like put up on this site to help a problem please email them to me.

I will only forward email addresses onto Councillors if you give your permission.

Please pass the word around regarding this site.

People Power gets things done. Remember, we can always kick the dodgy Thurrock councillors out at the next local Thurrock elections.

Regards

Tom

Hello Thurrock Residents.

What luck I had when surfing to come across this site, one word, excellent.

Thurrock Conservative councillors are really dragging there feet regarding getting to make Thurrock a safer greener borough.

Your site has highlighted only the tip of the ice berg, please keep up the good work.

Roll on the Thurrock elections.

Ps.
Please visit Stifford Clays, we have loads of blocked drains that I see every time I walk up to the shops.

Thank you

Stella

Reply: Hi Stella.

Welcome and thank you for your contribution to the site, I am aware of the blocked blocked drains in stifford clays and Thurrock in general.

Thurrock council must think that we all walk around with our eyes closed!

Take note councillors in all area's, If we all see the flooded Thurrock roads and blocked drains where we all live, why dont councillors see the same problems!

Some new photo's on flooded roads around Thurrock Park 16/11/2009 put up on Thurrock flooding problems.

Regards

Tom.

Hello Everyone,
Just raising the issue of building on green belt land in Thurrock - no doubt a subject dear to many peoples' hearts. Please write to Mr. Mackinlay asking him to raise the question in Parliament as to the legality of building on green belt land. Ask him also why there is VAT imposed on green belt land and yet none on brown land - thus encouraging the developers to take more and more of our precious green belt land. Please ask this Government to nail their colours to the mast; either they want to get rid of green belt land totally - in which case they can be challenged in Parliament; OR give legal protection to green belt land to preserve it, for now and for our children.

Thankyou - I know you will put pen to paper, every one letter received by our MP represents the wishes of at least one hundred people in Thurrock.
